1. Reporting to the Department
- Must go to the department by electronic mail the internet address of the website containing the healthcare cost
- If no website, then the provider must submit to the department via email (DHSSpricereporting@alaska.gov) a document of the cost of the most commonly used CPT codes in the practice
- Title of the document must be [Provider Name]_[Provider Address]_[Year]
2. Posting the price for healthcare services
- When posting the price of healthcare costs, the provider must include the language:
- “CPT® Copyright 2020. American Medical Association. All rights reserved. CPT is a registered trademark of the American Medical Association. The CPT codes are provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. The AMA specifically disclaims all liability for use or accuracy of any CPT codes.”
- Must be posted where patients can see
- Can post the prices on an electronic screen or printed on paper with a font no smaller than 20 points
- All locations for a practice must post this
3. Good faith estimate
- A good faith estimate of costs shall be given to patients upon request
4. Enforcement
- The department can fine providers $100 a day for noncompliance up to $10,000
