News About Digital Motion X-Ray

WHAT IS DIGITAL MOTION X-RAY?

DIGITAL MOTION X-RAY (DMX) is a new type of fluoro-based x-ray system, combined with new digital and optic technology, allowing us to view the spine in real-time motion at 30 x-ray frames/sec.  A separate company called Motion Imaging owns the DMX.  Motion Imaging is based within Alaska Back Care Center, so the DMX is on-site and ready to use.  The procedure is performed with the patient standing and actively moving their head and neck within the system.  The whole procedure usually takes a little over 30 minutes.  The radiation dose the patient receives is minimal, or equivalent to the same dose you would receive while flying in a commercial jet from New York to Los Angeles.

DMX is used for whiplash injuries to detect the most common injury sustained in whiplash; ligament damage and joint instability.  These injuries are not commonly seen with MRI or CT. Joint and ligament injuries to the neck refer pain to the locations described below, depending on which level of injury the neck has sustained.

By diagnosing the most common injury, we can direct specific treatment aimed at increasing mobility, stabilizing instabilities, and relieving pain.

By correctly diagnosing your whiplash injury by locating any ligament instabilities, we can direct specific therapy aimed at restoring proper motion, stabilizing your injuries, and relieving your pain.
